That evoked some kind of a mix, love and respect, in a conservative family. This Babu (my previous name) was destined to be pampered, cosseted.

I often remember my childhood and want to get it back if only I can, because my youth was so occupied with adventures. That soothes my feeling like the Indian butter. Though I was not raised in a luxury of wealth I did not lack the luxury of love.

It is one thing to be poor but quite another to be totally deprived of familial love.

When I therefore see children today with no parental care and affection, my heart is easily broken. When I see them deprived of their childhood, I feel troubled and want to help. A good foundation surely helps a child build his future.

As the wise man said,

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

And this has been a part of our mission for the last 24 years.

AIM ASIA passed another milestone last week with the inauguration of their 14th orphanage in the sleepy town of Gunupur, Orissa on January 16, 2010. Fifty-two boys from surrounding hilly area became the first residents of this new Children’s Home on the banks of River Vamshadhara.

Field Manager Peter Paul cut the ribbon and dedicated the orphanage in the presence of over 200 local friends and well-wishers. Other AIM ASIA leaders of the state present on the occasion were Superintendents Tapson Digal, Jibit Singh, Home Coordinators Anjan Limma, James Raika and supervisor Luke Majhi.

These children from totally destitute homes had no opportunity to go to a school system. Their admission to this orphanage will entitle them to all facilities for free including room, board and schooling.

We want to express our deep gratitude to our dear donor friends who have made this possible. To God be the Glory!
